The work of Marlin Barleti "Shkodra's Siege" was thought to have been written in 1504, but a new recently discovered manuscript proves that it was written earlier.
The manuscript was revealed by the researchers Lucia Nadin and Aurel Plasari who made public the details of the manuscript during the The International Albanological Conference in Tirana.
"From what we have studied so far I can say that it is a manuscript which belongs the end of 1494 or1501. It looks like a luxury copy prepared for publication. It has no side notes and it is clean and with a simple correctable writing, "Nadin said.
While the Albanian researcher, Aurel Plasari, said that the fact that this document dates earlier than the researchers have thought, will induce the need to review historical facts.
The manuscript is currently at the National Library of France and for the Albanian public it will be accessible in its digital version within the first weeks of July.
