The maintenance of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) that passes to Albania, will be done by the Albanian gas company Albgaz and the Italian company SNAM, as they established a joint venture.
The shares' structure is divided into 75% by Albgaz and 25%by SNAM. The Italian company SNAM guarantees the qualification of Joint Venture employees and the transfer of technological knowledge according to sector standards, in particular that of TAP.
"This agreement was made after intensive negotiations, following an open and international procedure among the best European companies that expressed the interest to become partners of Albanian Albgaz, thus demonstrating that the interest was very high. We selected according to merit one of Italy's largest companies, SNAM, which is also a shareholder in the TAP consortium," said the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Damian Gjiknuri.
The joint venture created by Albgaz and SNAM has already started negotiations with TAP for the contract and agreement on operational and maintenance services. Within 2019 the recruitment of employees and their training in Italy and Albania is expected to be completed, according to Gjiknuri.
