Above all else, I believe that using insultive comments against a President of any country, as was used in the said article which contains such derogative arguments against our President and our country would not be appropriate, particularly for a "distinguished scholar".
I fully reject these fabricated and totally biased arguments and comments which are also away from a little common sense and impartiality.
The words and comments of Prof. Dr. Ben Meir and Ms. Xharra, apart from reflecting a deep hatred to Turkey and Turks, is a totally distortion of our country's solid and constructive stance and policies towards Balkan countries. The article clearly exposes how the writers are unaware of the realities of the region and Turkey's consistent policy towards the regional countries.
In doing so, the authors also disregard the fact that one of the main strategic targets of the Turkish Foreign Policy is to be a full member of the EU. This has been strongly affirmed many times by our President H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdo?an, as well. On the other hand, the co-authors of this article pretend not to be aware of that Turkey strongly upholds the values such as, freedom of speech, human rights, rule of law, good governance and democracy.
It seems that Mr. Ben-Meir and Ms. Xharra are not cognizant of the fact that already in some parts of Europe these modern values have been replaced and haunted by extreme nationalism, racism, xenophobia and Islamophobia. The recent elections in Europe have openly displayed the mainstream traces of this phenomenon. I also would like to remind you that Turkey's accession negotiations, which started in 2005, is politically blocked by some EU Members' tactics of playing to the galleries due to this tragic change of European values.
I even noticed that the whole text repeats totally unfounded and well-worn views based on "Neo-Ottomanism" rhetoric which are continuously used by some of the circles that are not happy with the close and friendly relations between Turkey and Albania.
We all know that this polarizing rhetoric of Mr. Ben-Meir, had always brought conflicts and instability to the region so that it is no use to give any credit to this biased views and opinions. Turkey and Albania have no time to loose with these kind of shallow arguments that are actually used in defamation campaigns ignited by the well known anti-Turkish circles.
Turkey and Albania are determined to advance on their path to strengthen their cooperation in all fields in an exemplary way for the benefit and welfare of their respective people. I strongly recommend to anyone who would like to learn more about the proper and correct version of Turkish-Albanian relations and the genuine motives of Turkey's Balkan policy to read our Ambassador's interview, which was published on "Albanian Daily News" on 7 May 2018.
These type of academicians and reporters can continue Turkey and Mr. Erdo?an bashing upon their masters' wish, however, we, as the Turkish Embassy, will continue replying their far-fetched and distorted comments.
I would kindly request and highly appreciate it if you could kindly publish this letter of mine in order to give the genuine perspective of Turkey's constructive efforts in the region.
