Measles virus is back. Doctor Arjan Harxhi, expressed on Tuesday his concerns that the virus is still in an epidemic level and except the children under the age of 1 who are affected because they have not reached the age of the vaccine, adult cases affected with this virus are growing.
The reasons of why the measles is spreading among the adults are because they were not vaccinated or did not produced enough antibodies to not be infected when they contact the virus.
Only the first two weeks of March, Harxhi said that 50 new cases were registered in hospital.
The total number of cases affected, has reached 271 where most children are under 1 year old. Experts from the Public Health Institute insist on the vaccination of all persons belonging to the '80s and '90s and also those who suspect that they have only made one dose of the vaccine.
