The president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Albania, Mark Crawford, has raised a concern on Tuesday for businesses saying that they are being blackmailed.
He declared that unlike the classic form of fines, when criminals directly threaten by seeking sums of money from the entrepreneurs, the last are now confronted with ultimate demands to cooperate with partners and if they refuse, they risk too much.
"We still have some problems, sometimes specific to the security issue. We have had cases in Fushe-Kruja and Korca. It is not that all members have had problems, but there are one or two members who have had serious problems. It is a matter that can touch foreign investors that may come," said Crawford.
He added that for this case, they are in discussion with the Albanian government, because it is not that the government is unaware.
According to the American Chamber of Commerce, which has over 250 member businesses, such threats have an impact on the collapse of the image for other investors.
