Tirana Municipality is the first local institution that signs an agreement with Water Supply and Sewerage Agency (WSSA) aiming to increase the service quality.
The agreement was signed on Tuesday by Mayor Erion Veliaj and the WSSA director, Arben Skenderi, in presence of the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Damian Gjiknuri.
Mayor Veliaj declared that agreement signature enables a more qualitative service to the citizens and at the same time a better management of the polluted waters.
“The water supply system rehabilitation is one of the latest challenges for Tirana Municipality. We aim to increase the quality of the service provided to the citizens, but on the other side they should also agree that this service should be paid,” said Veliaj, referring to the water reform.
He said that businesses, which sometime are the biggest abusers with water supply, have become subject of inspections as part of this reform.
“The 2nd phase of this reform will be focused on the families,’ said Veliaj, urging to citizens to formalize the relation with Water Supply Company (WSC) avoiding penalties since March 1.
