Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj is optimist that 2018 will be a record year for the trees planting in the capital. Referring to the planting of some 100 cypress trees on Sunday along the city’s big belt-way he defined this process as a positive omen for the transformation of 2018 in a record year for tree planning in Tirana.
“I believe that planting trees in the capital is the best job that may be done by everyone. I am more than sure that we will manage to plant a total of 100.000 trees within the end of this year,” declared Veliaj.
He also repeated the appeal addressed to the businesses, private institutions and citizens to contribute in making the city greener by donating a tree.
“If every family of Tirana would donate 100 trees each year I am sure that we would live in a much greener city. Each one of us may leave his mark by donating a tree or a bench to the city. I my opinion a city where a citizen feels that he owns a part of it is a very good one,” said the mayor.
