The city of Lezha and the surrounding villages will from now benefit a 24-hour water-supply. An joint investment of the Albanian government, the Swiss government, the German Bank for Development and EU, with a total value of EUR 13.25 Million, enabled the complete rehabilitation of the city’s water-supply system.
The inauguration ceremony organized on Sunday was attended by Prime Minister Edi Rama who declared that government will continue to invest in the water systems aiming to guarantee a interrupted 24-hours supply to the citizens.
“The complete rehabilitation of Lezha water-supply system will serve as impetus to the government for the implementation of this project all over the country. But, I must also underline that this process may be successfully completed only if the water reform is properly implemented. I appeal to the local authorities and the citizens to support the water reform by formalizing the relations with the Water Supply Company enabling a healthy financial balance that would then be used for similar investments,” declared PM Rama.
January 31 marks the deadline announced by the government for the citizens willing to formalize the relation with WSC ahead of the start of the largely forewarned water reform.
