The oil-workers in Balls started a new protest on Wednesday asking for the immediate opening of the oil-production refinery and the return in their job-places. The protesters asked for government’s intervention without further delays in order to find a quick solution for this issue.
“We reached an agreement with Deputy-Minister of Energetic and Infrastructure for the refinery’s re-opening procedures acceleration. Three businessmen have already shown interest, thus now it’s up to the government and to the bank that owns the refinery in accordance to a court’s verdict,” declared one of the oil-workers syndicate representatives.
Last months the oil-worker marched to Tirana asking for their arrears and social insurance contributes to be paid by the company’s owner. This issue was finally resolved after a meeting with Minister of Energetic and Industry Damian Gjiknuri and the Minister of Finances, Arben Ahmetaj who guaranteed them that the salaries would be given within 48-hours. Now the oil-workers ask from the government to keep the remaining part of this promise, their return to the job-places.
