Albania ranks among the European countries with the lowest level of consumption and incomes per capita. A map drafted by EUROSTAT, focused on actual individual consumption versus gross domestic product, indicates that Albanian citizens’ incomes per capita during 2016 were the equivalent of 29% of EU average, registering a decrease of 1% compared to 2014.
This map also shows a decrease of the Actual Individual Consumption (AIC), the indicator of families’ well-being, in Albania. This indicator in Albania is lower not only compared to the European countries but also to other regional countries. AIC in Albania was equivalent to 38% of the EU average in 2015, while in 2016 this indicator decreased to 37%.
The highest level of AIC in the Western Balkans is registered in Montenegro where this figure is equivalent to 51% of EU average, twice higher compared to Albania.
