The 100th anniversary of the birth of the famous Albanian composer Prenkė Jakova was celebrated last weekend at the Cultural Center of the Orthodox Cathedral with a concert organized National Theater of Opera and Ballet (NOBT).
The concert brought on stage soloists, the symphony orchestra and the NOBT choir, who performed to the public some of the most beautiful compositions of the great master of Albanian music.
One of the most interesting moments of this evening was the piano performance of the two compositions of Prenkė Jakova "Margjelo" and "Heart Gift" by Italian pianist Paolo Marzocchi.
Prenk Jakova was born on 27 June 1917 and died tragically on September 16, 1969. He was one of the most distinguished Albanian composers and founder of the genre of Albanian National Opera, with his two works "Gjergj Kastrioti-Skėnderbeu" and "Mrika".
The latest was the first opera in the history of Albanian music, which Prenkė Jakova wrote in collaboration with librettist Lazar Siliqi and renowned director Andrea Shkendija.
