Netherlands Ambassador, Dewi van De Weerd labels corruption phenomenon and bureaucracy as the main causes that lead to foreign investors' departure from Albania. She stated that in spite of the fact that numerous Dutch investors are prone toward investments in this country the galloping corruption urges them to think twice before doing so.

"To improve the business climate it is important to understand that for companies it is essential that investment policies, as well as fiscal regulations, be clear and predictable. Public procurement should be done in a fair and transparent manner. Foreign investors should not be forced to leave due to the expensive and complicated procedures. Dutch investors are perfectly aware of the improvements in the business climate in Albania, but corruption and bureaucracy continue to become an obstacle for their activity," said the Ambassador van De Weerd.

The Netherlands is the second investor with 14% of the total investment in Albania. According to the Dutch Central Office of Statistics there's a 30% increase of Dutch investments in this country compared to 2014.
