The judicial reform and the war on narcotics trafficking were among the highlights of a meeting between the Socialist Movement for Integration (SMI) chairwoman Monika Kryemadhi and US Deputy-Director for Europe and Euro-Asia, Don Stolworthy and the Official for International Issues, Stepahnie Larsen on Thursday in Washington.
Kryemadhi underlined the SMI unwavering support for the justice reform while raising the concern about the majority’s efforts to capture the justice system. She urged to the US authorities to take every necessary step in order to prevent those attempts by the majority, adding that justice reform can’t belong to any party but should be seen as an absolute necessity for the country.
The majority’s refractory attitude in relation to the former-Minister of Interior Sajmir Tahiri issue and the large narcotics quantities originating from Albania recently seized by neighboring countries were also among the concerns expressed by Kryemadhi to her interlocutor.
The US officials expressed the readiness to support the justice reform implementation without any kind of deviation aiming a complete reformation of justice system in Albania.
