The Albanian weightlifter Romela Begaj wrote her name with golden letters in the history by winning the golden medal in the World Weightlifting Championship that is taking place in the USA. The sportswoman competed in the weight of 69 Kg and was proclaimed world’s champion in snatch style while ranking at the 2nd place in double-race section wining the silver medal.
Begaj successfully realized three consecutive attempts in snatch style with respectively 103, 105 and 107 Kg ranking at first place with 1 Kg more than her Colombian competitor.
Meantime she ranked at 5th place with 128 Kg in the clean and jerk style. However this result helped her to win the 2nd place in double-race section.
This highly positive result gains even more value if we consider that the Albanian sportswoman came in this world competition with some physical problems. A financial reward of ALL 100 Million is now expected to be given to Begaj by the Albanian government for this success.
