New Grant, EUR 93 Million Destinated to the Rural Areas

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Niko Peleshi had a meeting with EU Commissioners for Fisheries and Agriculture during his one-day official visit to Brussels on Thursday. The EU financial endorsement for a further development of agriculture and fishery sectors in Albania was the highlight of this meeting.
The opening of IPARD II program, a EUR 93 Million grant that will be injected in the rural areas giving a new impetus to the agriculture sector was the main topic of discussion during a meeting of minister Peleshi with DG Mare commissioner, Karmenu Vella, in charge of fisheries sector and DG Sante commissioner Vytenis Andriukatis, in charge of health and food safety sector.
This grant, which is expected to be allocated during the first half of 2018, follows an auditing process realized by the European Commission focused on the capacities and implementing structures in Albania.
