The firefighters battling since several weeks with the fires finally had a chance to take a rest. Last night massive rainfalls extinguished most of the wildfires in some areas, but the Civil Emergencies report that there are still 11 active fires in some districts of the country.
Rainfalls completely extinguished the firess in Derje Mountain near Shëngjergj village, part of Tirana municipality as well as in Kuç village, part of Vora municipality. The rain drops also extinguished the flames in a shrubbery and pine forest between Okshtun village and Hameraj village, part of Rrogozhina municipality.
Some 137 firefighters supported by 23 firefighting vehicles and 150 Army’s troops are still battling with the flames preventing situation escalation. Helicopters intervention also became necessary in areas due to the broken terrain.
The Civil Emergencies experts are continuously monitoring the fires situation while renewing the appeal to the citizens to immediately report any sign of blaze in the emergency numbers.
