Heat Wave, 19 Active Blazes in 5 Cities

The forest fires situation in Albania remains problematic. The presence of 19 blazes was reported by the Civil Emergencies Directory on Friday in a number of districts as the country continues to face a heat wave.

The most problematic are considered those in Muzina and those of Gjinar in Elbasan.

Some 124 firefighters supported by 22 firefighting vehicles have been deployed in the most problematic areas. Army’s troops and voluntaries are also helping the firefighters to prevent fires situation from getting worst.

Helicopters intervention has become necessary in areas that are remote or hard to access due to the broken terrain.

The situation throughout the country is being constantly monitored by the Civil Emergencies specialists. The authorities urge to the citizens to immediately report any sign of fire in the emergency numbers or the police numbers.
