Albania ranks at the last place in European level for the number of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certificates. The latest data released by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) show a not-so positive situation for a country aspiring to include in its economic model the production growth and exports increase.

“The number of registered ISO certificates is a measure that indicates the global chain of value and investments elasticity. The certificates operate as a special product, service or system that complies with the requests and standards. Serbia has the highest number of ISO certificates in the Balkans while Albania, Macedonia and Montenegro rank in the last places,” stated the OECD report.

The Albanian businesses continue to experience difficulties for their products merchandising due to the absence of these certificates that guarantee the standards. The situation gets even worst for these businesses willing to export their products, a sector where there’s an even stronger competition.
