‘The Albania’s economic growth experienced a deceleration during the last trimester due to the uncertainty generated by the electoral clime’. The National Bank (NB) Governor, Gent Sejko made this declaration during a press conference that preceded the NB Monitoring Council meeting
“The economic growth during the first trimester of 2017 was 3.94%. Meantime the latest data indicate a deceleration of this growth during the 2nd trimester. The uncertainties that accompany the electoral situation were among the main factors that led to this deceleration,” declared Sejko.
On the other side the fact that the electoral process came to an end does not seem to have eliminated the risks for the country’s economy. Governor Sejko raised another concern related to the problematic situation of the energy sector due to the prolonged drought.
“The disadvantageous climacteric conditions and the prolonged drought generate uncertainty due to the possible negative effects in specific sectors,” stated Sejko.
