Mirdita, 843 Cannabis Saplings Destroyed, Two Arrested

Some 843 Cannabis Sativa saplings were destroyed on Friday in Kushnen village, Mirdita finalizing an inquiry that lasted one-month. Two individuals, later identified as Gentian Çupi, 21, and Fatmir Vila, 32, were arrested during a raid coded “The Dawn”. Meantime their collaborators, whose only initials F.M. and A.D were unveiled due to inquiry’s secrecy, have been declared wanted by the police.

Kushnen village reeve, B.D. 47, was also indicted on grounds of failure to report a crime.

Two arrested individuals, in collaboration with those declared wanted by the police, had planted a total of 843 cannabis saplings in the forest. They will now be prosecuted on grounds of narcotics cultivation and attempted distribution.

Police inquiry aimed to shed light on the full extension of this criminal activity and other people involved in still ongoing. Meantime the entire seized narcotics quantity was destroyed on site through the fire.
