Known Russian Researcher Commemorated in Korça

The 50th anniversary of death of the known Russian researcher, Victory Puzanova, was commemorated through an activity organized by the Cultural Monuments Institute in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture in Korca’s Medieval Art Museum. Some 32 frescos and icons belonging to the Russian researcher, reproductions of the works realized by some of the most known artists of Byzantine era, were exposed for the first time.

Victory Puzanova was an expert of Byzantine era, of Russian origins, that gave a valuable contribution to the study of medieval art in Albania. 

During her activity in Albania she undertook a series of expeditions and as a result published a series of articles in the scientific magazines. Her research activity focuses on the study of icons and Albanian iconography, focusing on assessment of their importance as an important part of culture and history, laying the basis of further studies of Byzantine era in Albania.
