‘Onufri’ Iconographic Museum, XVIII Century Icon Restored

The restoration of “Saint Joan the Baptist” icon was successfully concluded in Berati’s Iconographic Museum. 

This work of art, realized by an anonymous author, that goes back to the 18th century became part of this museum collection after being discovered in Saint Kol’s church, situated in Sinja village. Project’s approval by the National Council of Restoration (NCR) by the end of last year cleared the path to the icon’s restoration.

This delicate process took place in ‘Onufri’ museum laboratory. The result obtained is really stunning, evidencing the beauty, the elegance and magnificence of this icon that will be exposed for the first time to the visitors during the incoming tourist season.
